En 1970, Los Brincos publican su último y más ambicioso disco, Mundo Demonio Carne (que cuenta con varias ediciones, todas ellas aquí disponibles), en el cual se evidencia el interés de Fernando Árbex (entonces cerebro del grupo) por explorar otros terrenos musicales. Tras el fracaso comercial del disco, Los Brincos se disuelven y Árbex, junto a Oscar Lasprilla e Iñaki Egaña (futuro Imán Califato Independiente, entre otros), da forma a Alacrán, agrupación de brevísima trayectoria que se sitúa, en términos estilísticos, entre los Brincos tardíos (psicodélicos) y la propuesta de Barrabás. Tras la disolución de Alacrán (que sólo llega a publicar un disco, o EP, para los estándares actuales), Fernando Árbex forma Barrabás, en una vertiente mucho más festiva y banal, que oscila entre el funk, el rock latino, la música disco y el blues. Si bien difícilmente se puede catalogar a este grupo como progresivo (o remotamente), su inclusión en este blog se debe a la importancia que tuvo en la trayectoria de una de las figuras más relevantes y representativas del rock progresivo español.ENGLISH:
In 1970, Los Brincos release their last and most ambitious album, World Devil Body (of which many different editions were released, all of them avalaible here). This one shows Fernando Arbex' (then mastermind of the group) interest on breaking new musical ground. Unfortunately, the album was a commercial flop and the band fell apart. Shortly after, Fernando Árbex teams up with Fernando Lasprilla (Brincos' ex-keyboardist) and Iñaki Egaña (of Imán Califato Independiente fame) to form Alacrán, a one shot project whose sound lies somewhere between the late Brincos' offerings (psychedelia) and Barrabás. Alacrán only managed to released one album (or EP, by today standards) and then split up. Barrabás is the project Fernando Árbex formed shortly afterwards, in a way more festive and banal vein (musically speaking). Their sound was a powerful mix of funk, latin rock, disco and blues; while it can hardly be labeled as progressive rock (or even remotely), the inclusion of Barrabás in this blog is due to the relevance it had in the career of one of the most important and representative figures of spanish progressive rock.
